Planet Lens 惑星発見器

A research project that explores new perspectives on local materials and landscapes, developed from the observational device “Planet Lens.” By viewing the familiar environment through a planetary lens, it invites new interpretations of overlooked scenery and seeks to reconstruct our perception of place.

Perceptual Designの技術を応用し、あらゆる素材を惑星に変える観察具「惑星発見器」を開発しました。知覚が転換する瞬間は本来、狙って起こすことができない偶発的なものですが、この観察具だけは誰でも・どこでも再現できる唯一の例外です。知覚は環境との関係の中に生まれるというジェームズ・ギブソンの視座を、フィジカルな装置として実装する試みでもあります。土地や素材への新たな視点をリサーチするプロジェクトとして、現在までに京都（#01）・台北（#02）を刊行しています。

惑星のレンズで眺めることで、これまで見過ごされてきた景色に新たな視点をデザインします。

The “Planet Lens（惑星発見器）” is a design toy that transforms any material into a planet. By placing the Planet Lens over a familiar materials and looking through the central lens, the surface appears as a planet. This creates a distinct impression before and after using the finder, offering a new perspective on the material. The central lens features a printed spherical shadow and has a diameter of 12 cm. Music has long since become intangible, but I embedded my memories of enjoying music on discs into this design.

惑星発見器は、あらゆる素材を惑星化するデザイントイ。身近な素材に惑星発見器を当て、中央のレンズを覗くとその表面が惑星に見立てられます。発見器を当てる前と当てた後で印象の違いが生まれ、新たな素材の見方を提示します。中央レンズには球状のシャドウをプリントしています。直径は12cm。音楽が無形化して久しいですが、自分自身がかつて音楽を楽しんだ円盤の記憶をそのデザインに込めました。
